Records are the building blocks of Plugg.
Depending on how your workspace is configured, a record can represent a plasmid, cell line, strain, antibody, sample, protocol, order request, or any other type of information your lab tracks.
This guide will walk you through creating your first record.
Step 1: Open an App
Navigate to the app where you want to create a record.
For example, your workspace might contain apps such as:
- Vectors
- Cell Lines
- Protocols
- Tissue Samples
- Sequencing Data
- Order Requests
Click the app you want to work in.
Step 2: Create a New Record
1. Click New in the app toolbar.
2. Enter the required information for the record, if applicable. Some apps automatically generate record names or IDs.
3. Click Save.
Step 3: Explore Your Record
After saving, your new record will open automatically.
To return to the app and view all records, click the app name in the top-left corner of the page.
From there, you can view, search, filter, and edit existing records.
Any changes you make after the initial save are automatically saved by Plugg.
Next Steps
Now that you've created your first record, you may want to:
- Filter Records and Create Custom Views to quickly find the information you need.
- Edit Multiple Records at Once using In-line Editing.
- Choose How Records Are Displayed using List, Tile, Group, and Scroll views.
- Organize Your Workspace by creating groups and shortcuts.
As your lab grows, records can also be imported in bulk, linked together, and tracked through inventory and storage locations.
